Speaker April 4th
Our speaker on April 4th was Katie Hall, Member for Footscray in the Legislative Assembly since 2018.
Katie is proud of her Footscray heritage and was encouraged by her family to become involved in public life.
2025 will be a big year for the local community:
• Opening of Footscray Hospital in November
• Upgrade of tram network linking the hospital with Footscray station
• Upgrade of train network through Footscray, the busiest rail hub in the rail network and beginning next year timetables will cease and a “turn up and go service” will be instituted
• Westgate Tunnel will open and 9000 trucks will be removed from local traffic
Katie spoke of recent local development and plans:
• $20M upgrade of Footscray High School which is now known for its arts and horticulture programs. There have also been upgrades at Primary Schools.
• Strengthening arts programs in the electorate
• A greening program with more open spaces and trees.
